A company in Columbia is seeking an experienced payroll candidate to join their team as a Payroll Specialist.  The ideal candidate will have multistate payroll experience and be a flexible worker who doesn’t mind taking initiative on projects.


Responsibilities:
  • Process and manage weekly payroll across multiple brands, ensuring accuracy in employee compensation, deductions, and tax withholdings. 
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including hourly rates, salaries, bonuses, deductions, and employee information changes. 
  • Handle payroll discrepancies, as needed. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll tax regulations. Uphold confidentiality in handling sensitive payroll and employee information. 
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain key HR and Operations metrics, including labor costs, overtime tracking, and efficiency reports. 
  • Generate weekly reports to support leadership in decision-making. 
  • Work closely with HR and Operations leadership to improve data tracking and reporting accuracy. 
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with company policies and labor regulations through data insights and audits. 
     
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll processing 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis, etc.). 
  • Experience with HRIS platforms. 
  • Understanding of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and labor laws. 
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines. 
     
Compensation and Benefits:
