A well-known client in North Charleston is looking for a Development Specialist to join their team. The Development Specialist is responsible for Raiser’s Edge database administration; developing and managing volunteer program; planning, coordinating, and executing special events; and implementing communications initiatives. This role focuses on attracting new donors, volunteers, and clients.

- Act as Raiser’s Edge Administrator, including gift entry and processing, acknowledgment letters, reports and mailing lists, and pledge reminders
- Plan and execute donation drives for summer camp scholarships, school supplies and holiday gifts, including recruiting and communicating with partner network volunteers and donors
- Assess organizational needs for volunteers and develop a robust volunteer program to meet those needs
- Recruit, coordinate and manage volunteer teams for office projects, program support, special events, and community outreach efforts
- Oversee volunteer recruiting efforts including applications, interviews, orientation and training
- Work with Institutional Giving Manager to identify opportunities to recruit institutional employees and members as volunteers
- Process, organize and maintain volunteer paperwork, including application, tracking of volunteer hours and creating reports
- Maintain the volunteer database and work to integrate it with donor database.
- Coordinate and plan donor/volunteer cultivation and recognition events/activities
- Take primary responsibility for all aspects of organizing, planning and executing annual fundraising event(s), including securing vendors and maintaining detailed, accurate budgets
- Identify and coordinate with potential vendors to host third party event fundraisers
- Assist with gift entry and recording, reporting and acknowledgement process.
- Create written, digital and video promotional and advertising materials with brand fidelity
- Maintain and develop website using WIX or a similar platform
- Manage social media including content creation, scheduling, commenting and direct messaging,
- Conduct media relations activities including writing press releases and media alerts, and securing and coordinating media interviews
- Draft content, design and layout of regular donor and client email communications
- Produce quarterly client and donor newsletter content, design and layout
- Draft monthly donor acknowledgement letters and bi-annual appeal letters
- Design programmatic mailings to clients
- Secure and manage Google Ad grant
- Coordinate PSA spots on radio and television
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university or college OR a 2-year degree with a minimum of five (5) years of related work experience
- Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft 365 tools, Canva, and WIX
- Exceptional writing, editing and story-telling skills
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work proactively
- Strong listening skills, combined with effective, articulate, and persuasive public speaking
- Ability to work and communicate well with colleagues and external stakeholders
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and part of a team
