A defense contractor in Columbia is seeking a Full Charge Bookkeeper to join their team. The ideal candidate will have several years of accounting experience, experience processing payroll, and proficiency with accounting software.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Maintain the general ledger, record journal entries, and reconcile accounts to ensure accurate financial data.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, process invoices, reconcile bank and credit card statements, and maintain organized financial records.
- Process payroll, calculate and file payroll taxes, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing procedures, including adjusting entries and account reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing documentation for tax filings and work closely with external tax professionals when needed.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies while preparing for potential audits.
- Provide insights into financial trends, budget variances, and cash flow management.
- Work closely with management, vendors, and clients to support financial decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Bachelors Degree or 5 years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Enterprise and SAP Conquer) and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with payroll processing and tax filings.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
