Position Summary:

Our client is currently seeking a Building Automation Technician. The right candidate will have excellent technical skills, and will be responsible for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting HVAC Building Controls and Facility Management Systems. Provides detailed information to communicate design to customers, the field installation team and subcontractors. This person must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, possess a high degree of integrity, work independently, and be able to analyze a variety of problems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and make modifications to new and existing BMS programming.
  • Configures operator workstations and all required software.
  • Calibrates, configure, and perform point-to-point verification of controllers, peripherals, and power supplies.
  • Perform functional testing of the specified sequence of operations to ensure proper operation of the controlled equipment.
  • Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site and keeps customer informed on progress.
  • Reviews customers’ systems and, if needed, points out other areas of improvement and keeps management apprised of customer concerns and issues.
  • Participate in 3rdparty commissioning of the controlled systems.
  • Complete all required commissioning documentation and provide accurate information for as-builts documentation.
  • Performs site specific training for owner/operator on the total system and assists with turnover to service.
  • Communicates effectively with the general or mechanical contractor, consultants, architect engineers and other sub-contractors as required.
  • Adheres to safety standards and has a high degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Conducts self-study (reading, research, and practice) to improve technical proficiency (software / hardware) in company’s product lines.
  • Ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience.
  • Previous experience with computer aided design, strong PC skills desirable.

Qualifications:

  • 2 – 6 years working as control’s programmer.
  • Must be knowledgeable of HVAC systems and must know basic controls strategies for said systems.
  • Tridium Niagara and BACnet experience preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record as required by the company’s insurance provider.
