A defense contractor in Columbia is seeking a Full Charge Bookkeeper to join their team.  The ideal candidate will have several years of accounting experience, experience processing payroll, and proficiency with accounting software.


Responsibilities:
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. 
  • Maintain the general ledger, record journal entries, and reconcile accounts to ensure accurate financial data. 
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, process invoices, reconcile bank and credit card statements, and maintain organized financial records. 
  • Process payroll, calculate and file payroll taxes, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. 
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing procedures, including adjusting entries and account reconciliations. 
  • Assist in preparing documentation for tax filings and work closely with external tax professionals when needed. 
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies while preparing for potential audits. 
  • Provide insights into financial trends, budget variances, and cash flow management. 
  • Work closely with management, vendors, and clients to support financial decision-making and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree or 5 years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). 
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Enterprise and SAP Concur) and Microsoft Excel. 
  • Experience with payroll processing and tax filings. 
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion. 
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • $50,000 – $60,000
