We are seeking a professional Medical Coder Profee to join a growing team. This position is based out of Columbia, SC but can be FULLY Remote. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in profee medical coding, and will have strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
Job Description:
- Review clinical documentation from physician and hospital services to assign accurate ICD-10, ICD-10 PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services
- Ensure that coding practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as payer-specific guidelines.
- Enter and validate coded data in the electronic health record (EHR) and billing systems.
- Perform coding audits
- Identify and report any coding discrepancies or issues .
- Stay current with coding updates, guidelines, and payer requirements
- Assist with resolving coding-related billing issues, denials, and rejections in collaboration with the billing and revenue cycle teams
- Ensure timely and accurate entry of coded data into the EHR and other relevant systems.
- Generate coding reports as needed for management, audit, or quality improvement purposes.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) (Required)
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration (Preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in profee medical coding, with experience in both physician and/or hospital coding preferred
- 1 year of recent experience in profee inpatient medical coding preferred
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Expereince with Epic (Preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suites
Hours:
- Monday to Friday (8am to 5pm)
- PLEASE NOTE: If you are NOT located in Eastern Standard Time Zone you MUST be willing to work on the Eastern Time Zone schedule.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $25 – $30 hourly
